Short Paragraph on Governor – Constitutionally speaking, the Executive branch of the State consists of the Governor and the Council of Ministers with Chief Minister as its head.
It is on the advice of the Ministers that Governor takes actions, which, in effect, means that the executive functions are performed by the Council of Ministers and the Chief Minister in the name of the Governor.
The Governor is appointed by the President for a term of five years and holds office so long as he enjoys his confidence. Governor has the power to recommend to the President imposition of State emergency, and reserving State Bills for Presidential assent. In recent times the office of Governor has been a subject matter of sharp criticism, as it has been noticed that the Governors instead of acting impartially started acting in accordance with their political affiliations.
