Man is essentially an animal and has all those physical needs which an animal has eating, drinking and sleeping. But if that be the be-all and end-all of human life; human life would hardly be a worthy gift of God to man.
Man is a rational animal; he is a thinking being a feeling being. He is endowed with a mind and a soul. He has the mental strata as well as moral strata.
He should think, plan and achieve. He should aim at progress, at upliftment and at advancement both at the mental level as well as at the moral level. If that is not done and mere eating and drinking just the bread is his aim and final objective in life then he has wasted himself.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
Society needs sentiments, sentiments need emotions, emotions need interaction and relationship that makes up the total scene of human life. If man would not have thought and planned, no discoveries, no inventions, no growth would have been possible.
There would have been no literature, no philosophy, no religion, no morality, and no spirituality. Man needs all these they are the means of his sustenance they are the meaning of his existence. So it is that man, if he is a man and wants to be a man shall not live by bread alone though bread may be the basic need but that is not all and everything for human life.
