Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw the attention of Ministry of Commerce, regarding lackadaisical way in which the public sector banks are functioning. All the talks about improving customer service are nothing but rhetoric. The number of strikes has increased causing misery to the common man. In most of these public sector banks, the normal time for withdrawing cash takes about ____________ (Duration). The messengers are nowhere to be seen and most of these workers give a two-hoot for the people standing in queue.
This has forced many a customer to change over to private banks or foreign banks, where the process is quite fast. Most of the employees have taken the VRS (Voluntary Retirement Scheme), hence they could care less. Moreover, even the clearing of the local cheques instead of taking over night clearing, still takes three days time. For loyal customers, the banks do not care to extend an overdraft facility and takes them for granted. All these factors have sulked the image of these public sector banks. It is high time that the banks should start reorganising their working procedure in order to maintain their good image, otherwise there will come a time when these banks will go into moratorium.

Yours Truly,
