“Jamiat-i-Ulema Hind” is an organisation of Muslim religious teachers who support the Congress and have a nationalist outlook. The party has now aligned itself with the Muslim League ideology.
It is active in U.P., Bihar and J & K. The Muslims are now getting assertive and audacious. In the aftermath of the Gujarat riots and the Ayodhya agitation by the VHP in Oct. 03; a section of its leadership is now demanding a separate territory, reminiscent of the creation of Pakistan;
Serious differences have come up among the Muslims over the Muslim Personal Law. The Muslim organisations have wantonly indulged in acts of terrorism in different parts of the country, Tavleen Singh, the eminent journalist, has rightly analysed that the rising tide of Islamic terrorism could be the only factor derailing the forward economic progress of the country, SIMI and its cohorts have spread their wings all over the country.
