Legal Provisions of Section 344 of Indian Penal Code, 1860.
Wrongful confinement for ten or more days:
This section punishes wrongful confinement for ten or more days. It states that whoever wrongfully confines any person for ten days or more, shall be punished with simple or rigorous imprisonment for a term extending up to three years, and shall also be liable to fine. The offence under this section is a little more serious than that in the preceding section and consequently the penalty is also a little stiffer.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
The offence under this section is cognizable, bailable and compoundable if permitted by the court trying the case, and is triable by any magistrate.
