Legal Provisions of Section 271 of Indian Penal Code, 1860.
Disobedience to quarantine rule:
Disobedience to any quarantine rule has been made an offence under this section. The section says that whoever with knowledge disobeys any rule which the government has made and promulgated for putting any vessel into a state of quarantine, or for regulating the intercourse of vessels in a state of quarantine either with the intercourse between places where infectious disease is prevailing and other places, shall be punished with simple or rigorous imprisonment for a term extending up to six months, or with fine, or with both.

The section requires disobedience with knowledge of a rule made and promulgated by the government. The rule must be either for putting any vessel in a state of quarantine, or for regulating intercourse between quarantined vessels and shore or quarantined vessels and others vessels, or for regulating intercourse between places where an infectious disease prevails and other places.
The offence under this section is non-cognizable, bailable and non-compoundable, and is triable by any magistrate.
