Sale of counterfeit Government stamp:
Sale of counterfeit government stamp has been made an offence under this section. The section says that whoever either sells, or offers for sale, any stamp which he either knows or has reason to believe to be a counterfeit of any government stamp issued for the purpose of revenue, shall be punished with simple or rigorous imprisonment for a term extending up to seven years, and shall also be liable to fine.

The section requires that the accused must either sell any stamp or offer for sale any stamp. At the time of so doing he must know or must have reason to believe that such stamp is a counterfeit of any stamp issued by the Government for the purpose of revenue.
The offence under this section is cognizable, non-bailable and non-compoundable, and is triable by magistrate of the first class.
