Legal Provisions of Section 195A of Indian Penal Code, 1860.
Threatening any person to give false evidence:
This section makes threatening any person to give false evidence a punishable offence. This was inserted by section 2 of the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2006 (Act 2 of 2006). It says that whoever threatens another with any injury either to His person or reputation or property or to the person or reputation of any one in whom that person is interested, with the intention of causing that person to give false evidence shall be punished with simple or rigorous imprisonment for a term extending up to seven years, or with fine, or with both; and in the event of any innocent person being convicted and sentenced in consequence of such false evidence with death or imprisonment for more than seven years, the person who threatens shall be punishable with the same punishment and sentence in the same manner and to the same extent such innocent person is punished and sentenced.
