The objective of this document is to define the process of implementing all the activities involved in the concrete protection works.

Brush, Non-ferrous gauge, wire brush
4. Procedure / Method:
Ensure that the curing of concrete is completed in compliance with the requirements of contract specifications.
The laitance on concrete surfaces shall be removed by appropriate scrabbling. All dust and debris shall be removed prior to application of primer.

Any surface holes on concrete shall be investigated and if they are small and formed by air bubbles caught against formwork, they shall be filled with a filler material compatible with the coating to be applied.
The vertical surfaces shall first be primed with an approved primer at the estimated coverage rate recommended by the supplier/Manufacturer.
The primer shall be allowed to cure for no more than 16 hours at 35 C before the applications of topcoat, which shall be applied at the recommended coverage rate for the specified number of coats.
During the applications of above coating, manufacture’s recommendations mentioned in the catalogues shall be strictly followed.

The thickness of layers of coatings shall be verified by using non-ferrous gauge.
The curing of the protective coatings shall be ensured in line with the requirements of specifications.
Backfilling shall be commenced only after receiving Client’s approval for protective coatings.
During backfilling operation extreme care shall be taken to prevent any damages to the concrete protective coatings.
