The Government of India negotiated with International Fund for Agricultural Development for development of women in selected district of Tamil Nadu. The principle objective of the project is empowerment of rural women which is sought to be achieved by socially mobilizing the rural poor women to improve their social and economic status in family and community.
The social enhancement could be achieved by organizing into self help group which provide self development through group’s dynamics and improvement in their economic position and bring development through increase in potential of income earning and support services. It helps in improving the socio-economic condition and better access to health, nutrition and other services.
All the above programmes work for welfare and development of women. According to Human Development, gender equality is not technocratic goal-it is political process. This help in playing an important role social, economic and political decision making and development thus hampering the growth of nation.
