“One Ring” is considered as a magical ring and describes its powers as being more encompassing and invisible. This ring was considered to be so powerful that it was considered above all other rings.
The rings is being described as made from gold, but was resistant to damage. It could be destroyed by only throwing it into the pit of the volcanic Mount Doom, where it had originally been forged.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
Unlike the other rings, the One Ring was not susceptible to the dragon fire nor it bore any gem. The identity could be done by a small test, which was while placing it on fire, it displayed a fiery Tengwar writing that had the lines of a rhyme which said:
“One ring to rule them all, One ring to find them,
One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them”
It was thought that the person wearing the ring would posses’ great powers and would enter a shadowy world revealing the physical world from a different point of view. It could control fellow beings, whether they were in possession of the other rings or not.
The symbolic representation of One Ring according to Tolkien was that it was mythical way of representing the truth that potency exercised , and produce results has to be externalized so that it passes to a either a greater or lesser degree of one`s control.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
The Lord of the Rings was not a symbolic representation of the actual One Ring, however many people have viewed it as a symbol of the One Ring.
This poem gives clarity on how the “One Ring” is being valued and how the other rings are at different places, but still the power of One ring is above all.
