This poem is truly of a kind and is purely Li Po’s style. Since basically LI Po was an alcoholic, he has depicted the feel of an alcoholic person in this poem.
Here says in the first line itself, amidst the flowers, he finds a jug of wine and on seeing it he had it himself as he had no companions to accompany him. Since he was alone, he raised it to the moon for a companionship and counts his shadow for more people to join.
As Li Po was a wanderer and had alcoholics, this poem is in someway related to his journeys in life that he has made. He then continues saying that, since the moon cannot drink, and his shadow is just a follower of his body, he starts enjoying him self by singing a song. He says that since there is the moon, he had his shadow and that made him feel a lot many companions were with him.
Towards the last he says, while he is still conscious, let us rejoice and once he is full drunk, all could leave. It just shows how lonely he felt when not drunk and finally he says, let us all party each time and let us swear to meet at the Milky Way. This means that another meeting is going to take years to happen and till then he would be all alone.
