Autumn Day is poem where, the poet depicts the onset of Autumn and the last few days of summer and how things are to happen on those days.
Initially he says in the poem that, it is almost time for the summer to bud good bye and let it lay its last shadows on the sundials and on the harvests made so far, as the autumn winds will soon be passing over them and making another feel totally. He even says in the first line, Lord it is time, where he shows that The Lord of all beings decides when the weather changes and when does autumn come and summer go.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
In the second stanza he says that, just before the onset of autumn, please send commands for the last fruits on the trees to ripen fast and urge them to grow completely as soon as they can and to drive the final sweetness to all the fruits bearded, as once the autumn is come, then nothing could be done as it gets cold and would not be suitable for all the fruits to ripen and get the best quality out of them.
Lastly he says that, once the autumn is set in, then nothing could be done and whoever is left homeless, they would remain the same for a very long time and would have to stay alone also for a long time as during the cold, everyone wishes to be at home. Also if left homeless, then no homes could be built during this season and they would have to be without homes for long. The only thing that could be done during autumns are by reading books, writing long letters to friends and then walk the passage up and down as this is the only way o get the time rolling as one cannot go anywhere out, because of the cold weather condition. When doing this, man would definitely get restless and would not be able to enjoy, but however the leaves falling outside, do enjoy and gave fun.
Therefore the poet says that, before the onset of the autumn, any work that is to be done, has to be completed as during the autumn season, one would not be able to do much other than pacing up and down, letting time pass by.
