A primary-school student, like a mule, has to carry a heavy load of books with him to his school and bring it back home daily. This is quite an exercise in itself. His course-content is no less heavy. It is very difficult and unintelligible.
Apart from this, the day-to-day homework further adds to the burden of the student who is, after all, a small child of tender age and under the frowning shadow of such a heavy syllabus, he cannot play, he cannot sleep and he cannot eat comfortably. His life becomes a hell at such an early stage when he is supposed to be free like a bird flying freely here and there.
The avoidable hurries, worries and flurries burden his life and he becomes a victim of a dragon-like course-content. Thus, the infanticidal course content should be reduced so that the school-going child develops his personality smoothly and slowly and later on, he becomes a fine citizen of a country, free from tensions. As morning is to day, childhood is to manhood. If childhood is overshadowed by a cumbersome course-content, manhoodwould automatically suffer. The nation will then be deprived of good citizens. So, syllabus should be lightened and made interesting.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
It is also apprehended that the children may develop humpback with the weight of the books and note books they carry. The number of books should be reduced so that the garden of childhood may remain blooming with the fragrant buds and redolent flowers which symbolically represent the hopes of childhood.
