Buddhism spread in India and in many other countries of the Asian continent. Today there are very few Buddhists in India scattered here and there. But this religion particularly spread in Sri Lanka, Burma, Tibet, Russia, Mongolia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Camobdia, Thailand (Shyam), China, Japan and Korea.
In Japan, China and Tibet various branches of this religion have been developed. These branches do not exist in India. Buddhism and its philosophy have immensely influenced Indian philosophical systems. Consequently, in many contexts, Buddhism has been vehement ally criticized also.
There are many common points between Buddhism and Brahmanism, but their basic stands are different from each other. In Indian sculpture, architecture, literature, paining and drama the impact of the character of Lord Buddha can never be forgotten.

In fact, it is a truism to remark that even today Buddhism is found as a world religion, because even now its followers are in crores.
