Free Essay on the Republic Day for Kids – India became Republic on 26th January 1950. So every year we observe 26th January as a national holiday. The whole country celebrates Republic Day.
The grandest Republic Day celebrations take place at Delhi, the capital of India. Just as on Independence Day, the Prime Minister and the President of India are present on the occasion.
There is an impressive parade consisting of the armed forces and also representatives of schools and of Girl Guides, Home Guards and the NCC, drawn from every part of the country. They are all smartly dressed and march superbly.

All national awards and prizes are given away on this day. Poets, writers, actors, prominent teachers, social workers and gallant members of the armed forces receive their awards at the Republic Day ceremony.
The National TV channel, Delhi gives a running commentary of the Republic Day Ceremony at Delhi. Everything is described so vividly that one feels as if one is personally present at Delhi.
Our School too has a Republic Day celebration. The national flag is hoisted and saluted, and sweets are distributed we then have a small variety entertainment programme.

All buildings are grandly illuminated on Republic Day. Late in the evening, my friends and I go about the city to observe the illuminations.
All compete with one another to have the best illuminated buildings. The government gives away prizes to the best-illuminated buildings. This is Republic Day celebrated and it is a day of joy for the whole country.
