To live means to perform one’s own duties and responsibilities in the best possible manner. A student’s primary duty is to study. But that does not mean that one should go on studying without properly planning out anything.
Studying is, in itself, an art, and maximum benefits can be reaped when we consider it to be so. Of late I have come to realise the importance of using my study time in a well-planned manner.
I am a student of class X, preparing for my final HSLC examination. Therefore I have got to put in a great deal of work in this year on which my success in the forthcoming examination would depend on. Without a proper timetable, I am bound to be like a rudderless ship being tossed about m the sea.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
Hence, I have worked out a timetable for my study. Generally, I get up at 5.30 a.m. in the morning. Bed tea, morning exercises and a wash takes about forty-five minutes of my time. I am at my desk latest by 6.15 a.m. I study up to 8.30 a.m. till I have breakfast along with my family.
This is also the time when we watch the News on the T.V and go through the day’s newspapers. Soon after breakfast, I get ready for school and reach school by 8.50а.m. In the evening, I spend another 3 hours of study from б.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. I have been provided with a separate room so that I can study without any disturbance and distractions.
Generally even when there are visitors or guests in the house, I am not called to attend them. I also spend another hour from 9.30 p.m to 10.30 p.m. studying. I go to bed at around 10.30 p.m.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
The morning hours of my study are normally spent in preparing for the school subjects. Home-works, revision and completion of school notes, etc., are done during this time.
The evening study which constitutes, the best and fruitful part of my study is strictly used for preparing for my final examination which consists of six papers, namely, Assamese, English, Mathematics, Social Science, General Science and Advanced Mathematics.
Everyday, I revise the first three subjects spending about an hour each for each subject and the other three subjects are taken up on the second day. In this manner I cover up all my subjects in every two days. The time after dinner is used for reading magazines, useful books and going through reference books.
I have come to realise that this strict adherence to my study time-table is bringing me manifold benefits. My overall performance in the class has considerably improved. Many of my friends have begun to appreciate my approach to study and are looking up to me as their role model. It has helped me to become more disciplined and purposeful in life. Besides, it has instilled in me a sense of direction, self- confidence, and orderliness in my task of study.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
It is my firm belief that a good student must have a timetable of study, if she wishes to attain success in examination. Study cannot be done in a haphazard manner. One has to plan one’s time of study. ‘When to study, ‘what’ to study, ‘how’ to study, ‘how long’ to study, etc., must be clearly chalked out beforehand. A student who does so is sure to achieve remarkable success and victory in his/her future life and career.
