Everyone looks forward to traveling and going places especially visiting a hill station- the beautiful hills and woods filled with an aura of mystery, completely untouched by man—————–
Oh! it is the dream of every young urban boy and girl to experience. Nature in its full majesty and beauty, the air free of pollution, pure and sweet, the misty mornings and nights.
My father came back from office and announced that we were leaving for Mussoorie, the next morning, to visit the first snowfall of the season. I just could not believe my pars, for a moment I was speechless.

My father shouted “Come on! Let’s pack our bags, boys”. It was then that I realized it was true and we were infect going to visit a hill station. It would be the first time that I would see the snowfall.
Oh! My God! it was too good to be true! My brother and I were so excited that we hugged each other and then rushed to our bedroom for taking out our woolens. My mother gave us a bag and we dumped our clothes in it but my mother had to repack the bag for us.
We got up at 5.00a.m and by 6.00a.m. We were in our “Land Cruiser” with our bag and baggage. We reached Mussoorie by 4.00p.m in the evening.
The clouds seemed to have come down to embrace us. I and my brother tried to get a hand full of them but they were so evasive. We were welcomed by-the cool breeze, the peaceful mountains covered with rich green deodar, cheer trees, swaying in the breeze appeared to be welcoming us, to their abode. Ooh! it was cold and drizzling but there was no snow and we were disappointed.

My father asked a local person whether there was a probability of a snowfall within 2 or 3 days. The local smiled and said the weather was signaling that snow could fall any time – which it had been raining for the last 2 or 3 days. We kept our fingers crossed and went towards our hotel.
Suddenly, God smiled on us and light snow flakes like cotton started falling. We threw our umbrellas away so that we could catch the flakes. It was cold, we rubbed our hands but we did not want to enter the hotel room- It was a lovely experience! Soon the flakes started covering the mountains and the Queen looked majestic in her white cloak – it looked so serene, peaceful and amazing!
My father decided that we walk to the Mall Road and have tea and pakodas in a ‘Dhaba’. We clapped with joy and started walking down the road to the market. Going down was more difficult than going up as the snow flakes had made the road slippery. We were wearing gumboots but still it was difficult to keep our balance. We kept slipping but it was fun – we were wet, but not ready to give up. We had hot tea and pakodas – they were so delicious!
After some time our parents forced us to go back to the hotel room where we changed into dry clothes we then sat in the balcony and saw the flakes getting bigger and bigger enveloping the Queen of Hills with a thick white blanket. We had dinner and then after playing cards, went off to sleep.

In the morning, when we got up, we were told that it had snowed throughout the night when it stopped snowing and then we went out and made a snowman with the help of our parents. My father also clicked our photographs with the snowman. We then threw snowballs at each other and at other tourists also. It was so funny, to see women trying to avoid snowballs.
As a matter of fact, now the weather had become really chilly because the ice had started melting. After walking for some time, we went to a | restaurant where logs were burning and people standing around them sipping tea and eating pakoras. We also stood near it and warmed ourselves. What a wonderful feeling it was!
We stayed in Mussoorie for 4 days as it was not very safe to drive in that weather. Moreover, we enjoyed the cold chilly weather of this beautiful hill station. We did not want to go back to Delhi but alas! All good things come to an end. My father had to join his duty and, our schools were also going to open. We returned, but, I forgot to tell you that the view of Dehradun from Mussoorie is really divine and breathe taking.
The valley looks like little stars twinkling in the sky, so tempting and inviting, a real treat for the eyes!
I felt sad departing from Mussoorie so I took out my diary and wrote down my experience in it and promised myself of returning to Mussoorie each year, especially during snowfall.
