1. Cleanliness:
In order to keep the factory clean and free from effluvia arising from any drain, etc. the following precautions should be taken in particular:
(a) Dirt should be removed daily by sweeping,

(b) The floor of every work-room should be cleaned at least once in a week by washing, using disinfectant, where necessary.
(c) Effective drainage system should be there,
(d) White washing and painting should be done at specified intervals.

2. Disposal of waste and effluents:
Adequate arrangements should be made to dispose of the waste and effluents.
3. Ventilation and temperature:
Every work-room should have adequate ventilation by the circulation of fresh air and proper temperature should be maintained in the work-room.

4. Overcrowding:
According to the Act, no room in any factory shall be overcrowded in order to avoid any risk to the worker’s life.
5. Lighting:
The Act also provides that in every part of the factory, where workers are working or passing, suitable lighting-natural, artificial or both should be maintained.
6. Drinking water:
Every factory should make effective arrangements to make available to the workers sufficient quantity of wholesome drinking water. Supply of drinking water should be maintained at suitable points convenient to workers.
7. Latrines and urinals:
Sufficient number of latrines and urinals should be provided. These should be situated at such places which are easily accessible to the workers. Separate provision should be there for male and female workers.
These should be adequately lighted and ventilated. These should be cleaned and kept in sanitary condition at all times.
8. Spittoons:
In every factory there should be sufficient number of spittoons at convenient places. These spittoons should be kept clean. The workers should not spit within the premises of the factory but in the spittoons provided for the purpose.
