Short Biography on Justice R.S. Pathak – Raghunandan Swarup Pathak born on 25 November, 1924; educated from Allahabad University; enrolled as an Advocate of the Allahabad High Court on November 8, 1948.
He started practice at Allahabad in Constitutional Law, Income-tax, Sales Tax and other Taxation Laws; Civil Law, Company Law and Industrial Disputes cases.

He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court in 1962. He became permanent Judge of that High Court on July 23, 1963.
He was appointed as Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court on March 18, 1972, appointed Judge of the Supreme Court of India on February 20, 1978 and became Chief Justice of India on December 21, 1986. In 1989, he became Judge in International Court of Justice.
