Short Biography of Soli J. Sorabjee – Soli J. Sorabjee has been Attorney General twice; first in 1989-1990 and then in 1998- 2004. During the late 70s he was Solicitor General of India.
He is the President of United Lawyers’ Association and is also a member of the UN Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities since 1998. He was appointed in May 1999 as the Personal Envoy of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights for East Timor.

He was also a member of the Commission to Review the Working of the Constitution of India in March 2002. Padma Vibhusan was conferred upon him on March 23, 2002.
In May, 2004 after the Constitution of 14th Lok Sabha under the Prime Minister ship of Manmohan Singh, he resigned from the post of Attorney-General for India.
